A Pelican~A Miracle~A Revelation

You are the God who performs miracles;
You display Your power among the peoples. Psalm 77:14 (NIV)

My sister-in-law mentioned it early in the day.

There was a pelican near the shore line that was injured. He stretched his left wing out and then back to no avail. Flight eluded him.

We discussed whether someone would call the pelican authorities...or whomever...and tell of his plight.

Then I forgot about him.

Till my husband and I walked along the beach hours later.

The pelican was still there. My heart broke a little. He looked so sad. His feet were covered in the muddy thickness of the tide-washed sand. He barely even moved his wing. It looked like he'd lost hope.

As we passed him, I silently prayed, "Lord, You are the Creator of the majesty of this ocean and all her creatures. Please heal that bird and help him to fly."

And we kept walking.

I didn't even look back to see if God answered my prayer.

Until I heard the shouts of my daughters. "Mom, Dad, did you see that?"

Not realizing they were behind us, we turned. "See what?"

"That pelican take flight! Even when his feet were covered in mud!"

"No," I said, "I missed it. I prayed and didn't think to turn around. I missed the miracle."

"But we didn't! We saw him take off! We saw God answer your prayer!"

And then we stood there beholding the grandeur of His waters, while pelicans flew before us, discussing the revelation of lessons on prayer...and miracles.

First, pray...and believe God for answers. I really don't doubt that I had faith in this. But I didn't turn around and look.

So watch for the answer!

And then trust that the miracle might be for someone else's eyes. For your children...or perhaps for future generations.

Oh how I love that! He is faithful...to a thousand generations.

Praying that you are seeing His miracles today and trusting Him for tomorrow!

Sweet blessings,

Wednesday Worshp~Letting God be God

I will establish My covenant as an everlasting covenant
between Me and you and your descendants after you
for the generations to come,
to be your God
and the God of your descendants after you.
Genesis 17:7 (NIV)

Father, help us to trust You today to be all that we need. Thank You for Your promises from generation to generation, Your everlasting covenant to claim us as Your own. Oh, how we need You. Help us to rest in Who You are today.

On Every Pew

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more
in knowledge and depth of insight.... Philippians 1:9(NIV)

I remember that Sunday so clearly.

I peered to my right and was struck by the reality that on five consecutive pews each held a person bearing a great burden that I was aware of. One, a broken marriage. Another, a mother facing a debilitating illness. The family with the wayward child. A cancer diagnosis. The other grieving a death.

And these were the ones I knew of. What about the other folks on those rows?

I daresay what I observed was only the tip of the iceberg.

It's so easy to glance around the room and see Sunday smiles and miss the heartache that lies beneath.

We all have it...a heartache. Perhaps a new wound. Maybe one that's been lodged there for years. It could be one trouble. It could be many.

I fear that I've been guilty of longing for what I saw as the perfect life of some, as well as judging what I assumed in others.

Lord, help us to see beyond the smiles. May our love...Your love in us...abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight. Fill us with Your mercy and compassion. Help us to always be a reflection of You to whomever crosses our paths...whether in a church pew or in line at the grocery store. May we see others with Your eyes...eyes that know what lies beneath. Father, minister to our wounds. Help us as we minister to each other. May we behave as "fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household," (Ephesians 2:19) loving as You would have us to love.

Monday Meditation~Convinced

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers,
neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us
from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

Praying that you feel His closeness and the depth of His love today.

Wednesday Worship on Thursday~Give Me Faith

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:26

Yes, Lord, give us faith to trust what you say, that You're good and Your love is great! We surrender to You, knowing that in our weakness Your Spirit is the power within us. Be our portion today...tomorrow...forever.

Hanging Out With My Friend!

Please join me over at Hester's Heart, where I'm guest posting for my sweet "preacher's wife friend" as she takes a little summer break. (Hester and I really only know each other via reading each others blogs, but God has linked our hearts as women of the Word, and women in ministry.) What an honor to give her an opportunity to rest and be refreshed. Hester is a fabulous Bible teacher with a heart for growing women according to God's Word. You'll want to become her friend and stop in to visit her often!!

Praying sweet blessings for you!!
