I think I've known that verse my whole life. I can almost hear the voices of those sweet little old lady Sunday School teachers from my childhood encouraging me to hide those words in my heart.
And I did.
Oh, I probably couldn't tell you right off the bat the chapter and verse at any given moment, but the words are there.
Those are the first words that came to mind this morning as I pondered this post. I repeated it a few times. I thought about what it means to me. I let it simmer there for a little bit.
You know, in the daytime, we may or may not need a lamp on. Night, though, is surely to prompt us to reach for the switch.
In a like manner, when our days are bright, when all is going well, we may not seek the Lord and His Word so desperately. But when night falls, and darkness surrounds us...when troubles come, we become like the hound digging frantically for a bone buried underground.
Oh that we would carry His Word so close to our hearts, keep it mulling in our minds during the "daylight" hours so that when the sunlight fades it already burns brightly.
Have you turned on The Lamp today?

I have! But seeing your cozy corner makes me wish I was sitting there chatting with you :) Can't wait to see the new house!
Oh girl, I wish you were here too!! Soon!!! Love you!
Kristi,
This is a great post -- you've hit it right on with a great application. We tend to do this - reach out when in need -- when all along we need to keep it lit within.
God bless you Kristi -- your new blog design looks great too! Love, Hester ;)
You're so right, Kristi. And I love your corner, too! Being there with you would be awesome. :-)
Turn on the Lamp--love it!
Hester, thank you for your encouraging words and the compliment on the new look. I still have some kinks to work out, but I'm enjoying it. God bless you, too, my friend!
Vonda, you're so sweet!! Wish you could just come on over!! Love you!
